This is a re-occuring problem for me, mostly it is suddenly gone, or (because of frustration) I switch distro.

Now after updating to jaunty the problem is back.

Sometimes I loose the ability to change focus from the active windows.

I cannot give focus on any other windows,  generating popups via alt-f2/alt-f1 do not work.

I can however start programs from a termina, they display fine (but won’t take focus).

Sometimes waiting 1-2 mintues make the problem go a way and I can work normally again, sometime I reboot and within a minute it is back.

This is _more_ then frustrating, as you often don’t get the oppertunity to even save and close running windows.

Currently I run:

• Ubuntu Jaunty x86_64

• Nvidia video driver (on a 9400GT, had same issue on a 8500GT) (Driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-180.44).

• metacity with compositor. but switching to xfwm4 makes no difference.

Anybody knows this issue?
