Tip and Trick: Play an audio-cd using gmpc + mpd.
You have an audio cd you want to listen, preferable through mpd?
This tip&trick will do just that:
Required:
-
gmpc 0.16.95 or up
-
mpd from git with this (one line) patch applied.
-
gmpc-mserver cdplayer branch from git.
-
Working gvfs setup (works on ubuntu 8.10)
If you have this all compiled and running in gmpc
-
Go to Serve Music
-
Click add files
-
Select ‘Audio Disc’ in the left menu ‘places’
-
Now you see the tracks on the cd as ‘Track 1.wav’ etc.
-
select them all, press ok.
Now you can add these to the playlist and play. If mpd tries to play it you will hear the cd drive spin up.
Q
p.s. I noticed you need a good cd drive to have it worked, a slimdrive I use from time to time failed and produced a horrid sound.
