installing ubuntu 11.10 on pandaboard
First get the image here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/OMAPĀ (panda board wiki is not up2date). Installation at some point will trigger an X crash and reset.. (so you have to start over again configuring..) this goes into an endless loop. I tried ubuntu 11.10 beta on my laptop (amd k345 + 6 gig ram) and it been a really disappointing trip. (I don’t have time write a long story, so bulletpoints for now) Pro’s: Looks better. lightDM looks nice. Unity feels more polished then in previous version. Gnome 3 multi monitor support
Gnome 3 multi monitor support is _really_ bad. One of the things is that the secondary monitor only has one virtual desktop. To make it behave more like 1 large desktop (so a virtual desktop spreads over both monitors), disable the following setting in gconf editor: /desktop/gnome/shell/windows/workspaces_only_on_primary This makes things a slight bit more doable. read more
