Just installed GMPC version 11.8 for Windows 32bit. Previously used version 0.20.0. I am running WindowsXP SP2. GMPC 11.8 crashes everytime I attempt to use. Revert back to version 0.20 and no problems. What information can I provide to help resolve ver 11.8 crashing on Windows?

    Thanks!

Debugging symbols are built in, so if you are familiar with GNU tools, gdb will serve you well, otherwise, I could definitely try with your config (your entire gmpc config) directory; though this could fail to reproduce on this side.

I was running a previous stable version. Installed 11.8 OK, but it crashes with unresolved libintl_printf errors? Says: The procedure entry point libintl_printf could not be located in the dynamic link library intl.dll.

I’m running Vista, and can’t even seem to locate this library?

Awesome bug reports, and I can’t thank you two enough. I mean, really, thanks for testing and trying. I have a new binary ready for you two to try, please let me know how it goes.

Try your flavor, it doesn’t matter which one, one should be just as good as another.

Successfully downloaded and running this new version. Had some virus scan issues on my end to circumvent.

The Info reports Client 11.8.16, Revision: 84c8c3f

I also noticed that the download link at Gnome site is broken for windows.

Thanks for the speedy turn around.

The “Album View” doesn’t show artwork for some albums? All album directories contain a Folder.jpg file? Some albums without extended tags do show the artwork.

What is the algorithm that Album View uses to display the artwork?

Did you set the path in connection dialog? is this on win32 or nix?

MPD is running on a nix appliance. GMPC is running on a vista laptop.

How do I tell if the Path is set? I looked at the Connection Profile under Music->Preferences. I have “http://192.168.1.140/Music/” in that field. The IP address is statically assigned, and correct. In any case, it doesn’t even seem to matter what I put in this field, or likely I don’t have the correct syntax.

Strangly, about 90% of the album art is displayed in the Album View. But looking at the source directories I can’t see a difference between a good case and a faulty case. That was why I was hoping to get some insight on what the search algorithm was.

Im my case, I have a Folder.jpg file in every album folder.

HTTP path is completely untested. So I have no idea if it works. Normally folder.jpg should be picked up.

    Hi,
I just installed the new GMPC version on Vista, and I use it to control a music server mounting voyage MPD on a USB key.
The music files are in it’s internal HD, mounted as /musica.
I can access and manage everything except cover arts.
I have cover art files in each album folder named cover.jpg, but it seems GMPC is fetching covers from some online server, and ignores my cover files.
I set in server conection /musica as music folder, but no success…
    Any help?
    Thanks a lot
    Alessandro

I don’t use windows, and have no access to windows machines. Therefor cover art for local files on windows is not supported (it might work, but no guarantee).. (until somebody is willing to test, fix and support it)

Great job. I installed the portable version and everything works well. The only small annoyance is the fact that the icons for Prev, Stop , Play, and Next are missing.
