Maybe I should just stop doing opensource stuff, it seems I am totally unsuited for this:
See http://musicpd.org/mantis/view.php?id=3394.
Am I this wrong? I know I am direct and often somewhat blunt.. But this guy frustrates the f*** out of me.
Because If I am supposed to accept this crap from users, I should not have users..
Please tell me If I am crossing the line..

Such bug reports and discussions are really useless. Next time something/someone like this pops up, just delete the bug report, and force them to either leave or make a better bug report. I think it’s unfair to you, to have you spend all this time getting useful bug reports, while you’re already short on time.
In the true open source tradition, especially for a such a great project as GMPC which is managed as a “one men show”, i say keep going and ignore such people. If someone is so unsatisfied about a software, is up to them to write a patch or fork, if so they wish. Keep going! Linus is direct and definitely blunt at times and it doesn’t stop Linux from being successful.
That guy just has toes that are easily stepped on. It’s unfortunate, but they exist, I think it’d have been best if you’d ignored him after he said he wanted to stop, since he could only take more offence when being argued with, which doesn’t help anyone.
Please don’t. Just ignore. Greetings from a very happy gmpc user.
I think you should have asked what his os version/de version/software version are and if he perhaps installed experimental stuff. The bug report does not tell you anything to begin with and you could have sufficed with setting it to CANNOT_REPRODUCE.
Bear in mind that some people are never satisfied. I would have left him to his own devices as soon as he started to threaten to uninstall. I think your reaction after that ignited the flamefest regardless of its content.
Take his criticism if any, see if it is applicable for you and can make you a better person. If not, let it go. Criticism is only somebodies opinion.
No, you don’t need to accept crap like that at all!
You need to be blunt to people like that. I thought you were even too polite!
Like evandrofisico said, take Linus as an example.
Now, that’s easier said than done, if you’re inclined to be nice to people like you. But being blunt is not necessarily a bad thing.
So, heads up, and remember that there are many people satisfied with your software and efforts you never hear about because they never speak up.
I was half expecting one of my bug reports.
Just ignore him, not worth your time to argue with users. At the end of the day, since you’re the only one working on it, you should only worry about what you want done, not everyone else. You could also find someone else as a go between to deal with the end users, and you can stick to coding.
Keep going! As one of those people that keep on sending sometimes silly bug reports to the trackers, i beg you: ignore and move on, especially if you don’t understand, don’t care, or can’t do anything about the bug reports.
Those of us that really care about the project will be happy the bug is there for others to see and maybe contribute if they find the time, we don’t expect you to magically fix everything.
Those that do not care will be offensive and annoying, ignore the trolls.
Besides that guy looks completely nuts.
