Gnome, scare tactics

This morning in the train, I saw my battery indicator in the panel turn dark red. Owh battery is almost empty, slightly confused and dropping my work, I moved to gnomes power manager and check the remaining battery time. This told me that I had 2 hours and 35 minutes left. So if I have 2 and a half hours left, why the red warning color? Even if I would have turned up the brightness, kicked in both cores in overdrive and started playing 3d game I would still have atleast 1 hour left.

The power management keeps track of average power usage, etc. It should be able to make a pretty good “Wost case remaining time” for my laptop and my usage. I do not expect to get a warning unless there are less then say 15 minutes left.

When I have some time tomorrow I will see if I can make a bug report (if there isn’t one allready).

edit bug report is here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=639364

I guess it just goes red when the battery percentage goes under a given amount. For me it goes red when I have like 45 minutes remaining, while my normal battery life is about 3/3.5 hours. Still it’s pretty dull indeed.
