Yet another MPD Box.

Thanks to Elmob, who send me this great little toy.

I have yet another MPD box.

It is a Freeagent DockStar. (Basically the same hardware as a Sheevaplug)

1.2Ghz ARM

128mb ram

Gigabit ethernet  (I saw it peak over 200mbit/sec, so not bad)

4 usb 2.0 ports.

No it is not the biggest speed monster, but perfect for mpd.

Owh and an image:

I can see the only TSSOP28 on your photo – is it RAM? Is it possible to replace it with a larger capacity chip?

No idea, but I doubt it is wise. You are better of buying a pandaboard or a beagleboard XM then.
The kirkwood is underpowered and the memory bus is very limited (speed wise)
