The USB (usb-to-go) is really unreliable. It causes kernel lock-ups when to much data is transferred. This is a known issue. I guess it would be better on the rev. C4 that has EHCI port. 2. The onboard soundcard is crappy, so an usb soundcard is needed. (The onboard is integrated in the power management chip.....) Having an usb network card + soundcard was not working. After several minutes->hours the usb port would stop functioning. The beagleboard is more then fast enough to run mpd. _easily_. You an get mpd from the repositories, and will run fine. The point is that I use the server/player to listen to my music in the living-room. In my study I can use my desktop. And yes..that means I have 2 copies of my music.
